Development and commercialization of new energy/electronic materials
Working together with our production partners, Cnem is involved in developing advanced metal foams, alloy foams, metal flake composites, and ultrafine metal powders. These can be, and have been used for batteries, fuel cells, and additive manufacturing. We are an industry partner of NSERC’s Discovery Frontiers Program, while also working with Canadian universities in advancing Canada’s sustainable technologies.
Cnem has long been involved in manufacturing nickel foam/fiber by nickel carbonyl technology and electroplating for application in lithium-ion battery, NiMH battery, fuel cells, supercapacitor, electronic heat sink, filtration and more. Marketing and technical support of carbonyl metal powders
We have expertise in Carbonyl Nickel Extractive Metallurgy. We are developing and marketing carbonyl metal powders of nickel, and iron alloys. The high purity carbonyl nickel powders are produced by a unique carbonyl gas refining process (Mond Process).
A typical carbonyl nickel powder product includes N06™, a filamentary carbonyl nickel powder with high aspect ratio, chain-like particle characteristics, and N24™. N24™ is a discrete carbonyl nickel powder with quasi-spherical shapes of several microns in diameter. These powders are widely used in powder metallurgy, metal injection molding, specialty hard alloys, welding rods, diamond tools, battery and fuel cell electrodes.
